Crossing point on Stenner Lane, August 2025

This was the point where Heavy Goods Vehicles, lorries, plant and machinery etc crossed Stenner Lane from the compound in the sports ground, left, into the area of the construction site. Note the official on duty who gave instructions to the drivers and logged their coming and going; he also ensured the safety of members of the public using the lane. On the approach were several warning and instruction signs which read:

ATTENTION. NO RUNNING. PLEASE WALK WITH CAUTION.

Caution. Heavy Goods Vehicles operating in this area.

CYCLISTS PLEASE DISMOUNT

Caution Construction Traffic

In out-of-work hours the crossing point was securely fenced off.

The public could rejoin the river bank by proceeding along Stenner Lane and then turning right onto the tree-lined Poplar Avenue.
