These are some of the 13 flower baskets attached to the historic wall and supported in coconut fibre. They are watered regularly and are a lovely addition to the local environment. With permission obtained from Manchester University, who are responsible for the wall, local resident Mary Thomas has for some time supervised on their maintenance. Her husband, John, has also done much work over the years on the grassy knoll and along the lane. They – and other local residents – have contributed much time and effort to enhance the appearance of the lane for both locals and visitors. And it is appreciated.
