Original layout of 1930s’ houses
Included below are a small number of examples of the plans and layout of some of the houses built before 1939 and are a reminder of the way things once were. They are fairly representative and show many of the features described earlier.
(NB: Kitchen has been altered and extended)
Plan of house on Spring Gardens
The original plan would have shown the living and dining rooms as separate with each having a door. Also, the porch would have been open. First floor as original.
