Grassy Knoll, Ford Lane
Grassy Knoll, Ford Lane
Photographs taken on or near the grassy knoll on Ford Lane, August 2017
These items were made out of recyclable materials by local resident Joe Griffin, the intention being to provide places in which insects and wildlife could flourish and also to serve as an interesting feature of the local environment. The emphasis on bees is in part a tribute to the 22 people killed in the Manchester Arena bombing outrage in May 2017. The Manchester worker bee is one of the best-known symbols of Manchester and has been an emblem of the city for over 150 years. The bee denotes Mancunians’ hard work ethic and the city being a hive of activity. It has also come to represent a sense of unity in our great city.
