Steam traction engine, July 2024
This beautiful newly constructed steam traction engine was about to be unloaded and delivered to steam power enthusiast Lee Griffiths, a resident of Fordbank Road. The engine was built as a half-size absolute replica of the original.
Northern lights recorded over Fordbank Road, October 2024
The lights, also known as aurora borealis, were expected at this time to be seen only as far south as the Midlands but were in fact widespread throughout the UK.
Aurora displays occur when charged particles collide with gases in the Earth’s atmosphere around the magnetic poles. As they collide, light is emitted at various wavelengths, creating colourful displays in the night sky. The vivid images were quite stunning and were recorded by a local resident.
