Medical practice at 43 Dene Road, 1955-62

Dr Clifford Kay, who lived at this address, began his practice on 1st February 1955 with no patients. His name is engraved on the metal plate on the gatepost, left, along with the words ‘Consultation by appointment’. In 1962 his practice was relocated to premises on Barlow Moor Road, near Emmanuel Church. Now known as the Barlow Medical Centre, it eventually relocated to new and bigger premises on Wilmslow Road near to the newly built Beaver Road Primary School. The house in the background in the photograph is on Deneford Road.
